A common question being asked this week: is wind energy to blame for the energy crisis in Texas?

The answer is no.

People are simply dunking on wind energy to score political points.
ERCOT, Texas' electric grid overseer, said just 13% of the outages were due to wind energy being forced offline. The remaining 87% were other sources of energy, including traditional energy sources. Governor Abbott acknowledged this today.
Instead of blaming wind (or even other sources of energy), we should be looking elsewhere for answers.

As of now, the facts show that all energy sources simply weren't ready for these cold temperatures...or for the record-breaking energy demand that accompanied the cold temps.
At the end of the day, modernizing the TX energy grid, upgrading technology, & improving energy infrastructure are the best ways to prevent this from happening again.

Dunking on wind energy to score political points or media attention helps no one—and it's factually inaccurate.
