The writer/ agent relationship is worth transparent discussion. Based on my own recent experience, I want to reiterate a few things.
Writers deserve (at the very least and among other things):
-open communication
-responses to emails and phone calls in a timely manner
-confirmed receipt of projects
-somewhat accurate estimates on when to expect feedback or updates
-respect for their time and mental well being

Lack of communication is stressful, frustrating, and demoralizing, but it is not a reflection of a writer's worth. No writer should feel like they have to excuse unprofessionalism for any reason.
I'm currently working on a manuscript that makes me laugh, and for the first time in forever, I'm excited about writing again. I am ready to move on, and I'm grateful for the support, strength, and courage of other authors.
