some friends of mine posted about music "hot takes" on twt and wishing they could be positive. i'm all for being critical but i like this idea, so i'm gonna start with some of mine.

hot take: some of the best producers i've seen here do a LOT with a little and i'm in awe of you.
super hot take: sauce being secret is silly. it was never about the sauce. opening up to talk to folks about your technique and setups often leads to them being willing to open up to you. you would be mad surprised what workflow tips and tricks you learn. you both leave stronger.
piping hot take: making, promoting, and performing music is A LOT despite how effortless content creators make it seem. if someone is doing shit you like, tell them. you want more? say something. that feedback could be what keeps your favorite artists going.
scorching hot take: if you find yourself in a slump, forgive yourself first for not being a content creating machine. then seek out others that are doing. surround yourself with people that push and sometimes, it sparks the push in you. my best friends keep me going, real talk.
inferno take: fuck a stream count. yes, we care, it'd be totally disingenuous to pretend like we don't get serotonin from the numbers and the hearts and the upvotes. but at the end of the day, your art and your worth aren't tied to spotify numbers. do your art, tell your story.
lukewarm but still kinda hot take: if you're in my list, i listen to your music and want you to KEEP GOING. not on fake positivity bullshit, either. even if you feel like your music sucks (and it might! we have all been there), you get better if you KEEP. GOING. i'm watching you.
reheated leftovers but it's stuff you like so it's fine hot take: it's okay to fall out of love with music you've released. it's fine! i hope i learn so much more that i NEVER make the same album twice, but i love and appreciate my releases for what they were at that time.
pop tart hot take: some of these old heads that just grumble and groan with their grandpa "get off my lawn" stick swinging - yeah, it's tired, but there's also a lot to be learned from these cats. be selective about the social media you consume. take the good, leave the bad.
comfy electric blanket warm take: if there's something you don't know and you want to know, ask. for real. if you suspect learning something might level you up and you don't know where to start, just ask somebody. shoutout my man @A_Ptato for showing me hella P.O.33 shit🙏🏿
last hot take: get involved in your community for shit that -doesn't- involve you. go to shows that have nothing to do with YOU and just have a good time and vibe, show support. the scene can't live and die with you alone. show love, have fun, hop in the zoom. ask for invites.
