Over the past few years, many cbs have been coming onto the scene, many big clubs need centre backs who can not only defend, but players that are confident in their abilities. One of these is Ibrahima Konate
Konate began his career at french team Sochaux, he then went on to make his debut in February 2017, i. That season Ibrahima was one of their standouts. He then went on to make a deserved move to Leipzig later on in the summer transfer window of 2017.
How leipzigs system benefits Ibrahima

^^which is why Konate is a key player in this system. Konate is very quick for a fb which means if teams decide to potentially play a pass in Leipzig’s defence, Konate can use his pace and strength to surge back and potentially hold up the play or win the ball back.
Leipzig sometimes morph into a 2-4-4 in game, this means that central areas are hard to break down leaving no choice but for opponents to play it long, which means konate has to deal with this, but it is all one of Konates biggest strengths, this is because Konate wins most

Ibrahima can also play in many systems these include 3 at the back formations, 4 at the back formations, when being used for Leipzig in a 3 at the back or a 4 at the back formation Konate is being deployed at right centre back, he is also comfortable on the ball but may not have
^^ the passing range of his partner cb upamecano, whilst not having that passing range, Ibrahima is very tidy on the ball and has a high pass completion rate.
One of the biggest points is konate’s positioning, in a really aggressive system Ibrahima always manages to position himself well, examples of this is his tackle success rate and his interception success rates which are both actually really high throughout his career
As mentioned earlier on in the thread Konate is very good in the ball, but one of his better abilities on the ball is breaking the lines, Konate is very good at this, which also suits Leipzig’s style of play as they are always looking for quick transitions, he is also very good

But whilst being rated highly by his manager, the board, Leipzig and the bundesliga. Konate has a very bad record of injury’s, this season Ibrahima has only played 7 games in the bundesliga and 6 games in the champions league, with saying this Leipzig haven’t lost a game in the
^^bundesliga that he has featured in so it’s obvious on what he brings to the team and the impact he has.
How does he get injured?
Sometimes Konate likes to tackle the opposition at full power which sometimes means he badly hurts his knee in the proc, and also his hip adductors during the challenges, whilst being very good tackles because he is tackling at such a high speed

^^ this causes a bigger risk for getting injured, these tackles could also explain his ongoing ankle injuries, this is because the greater the force on the ankle, the more damage is done, Konate has also missed 40 plus games for Leipzig in the bundesliga since joining them.
Overall konate is a very good centre back for his age, he has everything you need in a cb to succeed, pace, strength, height , ball playing ability and he’s only 21 with lots of potential but his injury record may put teams off.
