Everything happening in Texas should be a warning to us all. The implications of what's taking place there on the ground extend well beyond the borders of that state.
While many people choose to be snide or think Texas is an isolated incident because of state politics, the entire USA is at risk. This whole country is raggedy and these disasters can happen to any of us.
It's all about mutual aid, collective organizing, abolition, and moving beyond the state because this time demands it. People don't have a choice when they're abandoned without resources and support.
People across the USA are fighting for basic infrastructure, human rights, and resources that have existed in other places for generations. The whole country needs more than a call to a politician, glossy activists, and mediocre reform -- we need a revolutionary movement.
The things that happen on the ground in response to crisis have to be happening consistently and with enough mass participation to avert future crises and build a movement that challenges the state. This is what we're getting at when we talk about dual power and direct democracy.
People's lives are on the line. Thank you to all the people in Texas and throughout the country who are doing survival work every single day no matter what. THANK YOU. Where would we be without you in these moments? Proactive organizing is indispensable.
