I feel like people use “karma” as a way to make themselves feel better when they are wronged. Like “no worries, karma will handle that”... and that’s just not true. Sometimes people will do bad things or hurt you, and never experience consequences.
Your healing cannot be contingent on whoever wronged you experiencing a consequence for that action. Sometimes bad people do bad things or good people do bad things, and that’s that. They may never receive bad karma for it or a consequence for that action.
And either way, our aim to be good, to be light, should not be validated through being vindicated. Be good because you’re good, be light because light is within you.
++ Im Not saying that karma is not real, I’m saying that sometimes people do bad things, and we shouldn’t only be okay with it because we think something bad will happen to them in return.
My peace should never be predicated on someone’s misery... even if they wronged me.
My politics on liberation are very similar. Liberation cannot exist in the same space where oppression exists, and my liberation is not contingent on any persons oppression. And I think danger is eminent when we begin to act on the feeling that someone deserves something harmful.
I am so far from perfect & have been both harmful, and a blessing. I don’t think these are quantifiable. I try to be the best I can and learn from when I wasn’t. This is what keeps me good— intentionally trying to be good. Not being good to avoid something bad.
