(1/9) i’ve ALWAYS wanted to talk about how much the target audience and priorities for the sims has changed for the worse most notably with TS4, and how while TS4s buildmode is so popular yet there’s so much thought lacking when it comes to so much, ex. color design (seen in pic)
(2/9) [disclaimer: the photo in the last tweet was from tumblr, not me!] the sims 1 was honestly geared towards such a big crowd. the sims themselves were older looking/more mature acting (something that appealed to me as a young person and now that i’m older too), the animations
(3/9) were more realistic, even if they were doing something outlandish (not like those awful animations sims do while cooking in TS4), nothing was inherently feminine about the styles (i’ve seen a good even amount of everyone that’s played 1 as apposed to the later games, as
(4/9) well as people who used to play the older games that say they never got the new ones because they just weren't "made" for them anymore). i saw a tweet point out how TS1 was a strategy game, 2 & 3 were RPGs, and TS4 is just a cutesy game of dollhouse, and i couldn’t agree w/
(5/9) that more. the point of sims 4 is to spend hours in CAS dressing your sim up in the picture perfect pastel sweaters and skirts and then drop down in (what most say is the best build mode but i disagree solely by the fact that NONE of the style sets can be used outside of
(6/9) their sets without wildly clashing) build mode and spend eternity designing a pinterest style tiny home that’s nothing but decorations and no actual useful objects. the aesthetic of sims 4 is so centered around a young adult/feminine look and everything is so... smooth and
(7/9) wannabe perfect. there’s no furniture that’s a little grungy or dated looking aside from that one couch from cats and dogs (yet it’s STILL cutesy and pastel) and the mid cent-mod styles in GF are so snobby and rich looking. there are no carpets and the few we have only have
(8/9) like 10 color swatches! I wanted to make a comparison side by side of a room I made to my taste in TS1 and then try to recreate it in TS4 to see how much of a disaster it would look, and yeah, yikes (imo at least). as for CAS, i absolutely hate that so many things are
(9/10) customizable. that means i have to spend an hour just fixing every piece and accessory in each outfit, fix all the disproportionate body parts, etc, but if you want to see my rant on CAS i'll pin that to my profile because I already made one lol.
(10/10) ANYWAY thank you all so much for bearing such a long thread and i'mma stop it short now because this is getting insanely long and i hope yall don't think my complaints are boring lol 💗💗💗
