Thrilled to announce that June is part of YC W21 and that we are live today on Hacker News :)
The past 6 months have been a crazy ride for Ferruccio and I
Today is a good day to reflect and share more.
Here is a bit of our journey

We took this picture on the very first day we started to work full-time on June.
Two days before Ferruccio barely made it to France as the @AirFranceFR steward blocked him from onboarding.
After a little push he landed in Paris

Our first two months were especially tough.
We talked with so many product teams and were confident that the analytics space was broken. But at the same time the problem felt too broad and overwhelming.
We were convinced but only had a Notion note called "Project Analytics"

Sticky ideas come from problems you have personal connections with.
It was our case.
The idea of June came when my team at Intercom had to choose between Amplitude and BI tools to answer question. Engagement with these products was close to zero. The bills were high

The following weeks were all about nailing down the problem and the positioning of June. We had to come up with a first product scope.
We had a game changing discussion with @qnickmans that lead us to decide to build on top of Segment.

At this time we went though endless number of whiteboard sessions, including this one one with @WidawskiJ, a friend and now an angel investor - among many more

In November we decided to apply to YC.
This wasn't a life goal, but definitely something we had in mind. We timeboxed the application + video to 1.5 day.

Our interview with @mwseibel and @ReshmaKhilnani and other partners went crazy fast and left us hopeless. In our mock interviews other YC founders told us to try and drive the conversation with our answers. At the end we only had enough time to defend our idea.
We went to a bar to get a bottle of wine and told each other that it was ok, that we did our best and that we didn't need YC to build a company
Michael called us the next day and told us: "Hell yeah we love your vision, we want to help you build June"

Only later did we understand how much the problem we are going after resonated with the YC partners.
They've been advocating for years their batches to be more data-driven. For instance here:

Fast forward June is alive
It has a brand and a logo.
It feels like we wanted it to be, simple and approchable.

YC has been a quite exhausting experience. But very fulfilling.
Part of the team - whoever could travel basically - decided to go in Avignon
for a month.
This is the view from the house we basically have too little time to enjoy

And here we are, today, launching on Hacker News.
This is the full "full-time team" - including @vortex_ape who joined us as a founding engineer.
We also have some freelance designers helping us part time to shape June. Everyone believes we can change the analytics space

June is simple and opinionated. It's a redo the way product analytics should work.
We found 10 customers that think like us and love it.
So we decided to grow to find the hundreds next who believe the same.
( @rlostrevino we're lucky to have you onboard

Last but not least, a HUGE thanks to our angels and investors (will share a thread only about them very soon). As well as all the amazing people who helped us along the way.
