i think the most promising thing about web 3 is the itemization of data and content, how different it is from what we're used to today, and why it's important for creators
this is how we organize things today. users, content, and data live inside apps which are largely separated and have near total authority. they can only be accessed or used in the ways their app allows, and only for as long as the app is alive
in web3, every piece of data and content is itemized and lives in one persistent space. apps still exist, but with far less authority. in general, they're only interpreting what's already in the space or adding new items to it — which any other app will also have access to
in other words, if the current web is app centric, web 3 is item centric. this ends up being a pretty big shift in how we think about building. if apps are really just utilities that connect items together, then increasingly most of the value is in the items, not the apps
so what does that mean for creators? my best guess is in the long run it means creators and their creations actually become more valuable than apps
so that's why web3 is cool
