The Weeknd is my favourite artist on earth. Since I first heard his music so many years back, something about it has just connected with me and I think there’s something amazing about each body of work.

House Of Balloons

Where it all started. The Weeknd’s dark mental state in this recording process is something I’ve related to at my lowest moments, specifically maybe my favourite ever song, “The Knowing”. HOB was the soundtrack to so many big moments in my life.

Echoes of Silence and Thursday

Often overlooked next to House Of Balloons, the other Trilogy tapes share the same memories to me that House of Balloons does. As someone who aspires to be an artist, such amazing music being made while homeless inspires me with listen.

Kiss Land

The creative process taking inspiration from horror movie directors, Kiss Land to me encapsulates the feeling of fear of change. The Weeknd was about to become a star and was scared of who he was becoming and changing in to, an emotion I often struggle with. Underrated

Beauty Behind The Madness

I distinctively remember 12 years old me being introduced to The Weeknd through BBTM. From the moment someone played The Hills and Can’t Feel My Face for me I was a fan. This album brings me back to that time, he was the soundtrack to my summer.

Starboy

Another soundtrack to another summer. The Weeknd’s ability to completely switch up his sound, aim to make the biggest hits possible and still keep artistic integrity and make a great body of work to me is what The Weeknd is about, being a superstar while being yourself.

My Dear Melancholy,

With the emotion on display in this EP, it’s clear to see how so many can connect to it. During my lowest points, either in relationships or life in general, this EP has gave me something to relate to. Not afraid to admit I’ve played Privelage 100+ times.

After Hours

This was the soundtrack to my 2020 lockdown. The Weeknd here culminated everything great about his music into one, from the darkness of Trilogy to the pop sensation in Starboy, his evolution on full display. The tour tickets are also scheduled for my 20th birthday.

Overall, when I look back on my teenage years when I’m an old man, The Weeknd’s music will be a big part of this period of my life. His music is a big part of why I’m so passionate about how much I love music on here and I’m blessed to experience his career while he’s here.

Just adding this before I post: for those who were concerned, I got the news from the VETs today that my dog has improved and she’s at home now. She’s still sick really and she might not last much longer, but she’s home and safe for now
