In support of new “free speech” legislation today, Gavin Williamson writes that he was "shocked by the findings of a recent study by King’s College, that found a quarter of students believed violence was an acceptable response to some forms of speech". What he DID NOT mention...
...was that, firstly, that finding related specifically to “extreme” and racist hate speech. Secondly 20% of the general public shared the same view. Thirdly, the report’s author @jonathancgrant has pointed out, students were clearly supporters of free speech.
