I genuinely want to cry reading this. This was completely preventable and yet we’re going to see this happen across the country as more and more schools reopen before it is safe.

And no, it is not safe, no matter how many people try to tell you otherwise. I know that there are restaurants that forbid workers from wearing quality masks (don’t know if this is legal or not but they get away with it) so as not to scare customers - one person I know wears a surgical mask under their cloth mask at their job as a server.

Point is: I wouldn’t even be remotely surprised if this is going to be the case when all schools are open. Teachers are going to be forced back into doing indoor instruction without adequate equipment and without being vaccinated, and it’s going to lead to so many deaths.

Public health agencies should’ve recommended cloth masks as a makeshift solution in Spring 2020 before premium masks could be manufactured en mass. This never happened, and almost a near later most Americans still don’t have adequate protective equipment.
