Passing thought Gennep 52nd was tasked to clear the imposing Broderbosche, a new pine tree plantation on sandy hills overlooking the Afferden-Goch road. A series of AT ditches awaited then, the Ger 2nd Parachute Regiment was dug in with MGs, Mortars and SP guns @WeHaveWaysPod
On the 16th if Feb 157 Brigade with 5HLI and 5KOSB were tasked with heading south to clear the Broderbosche to the edge of the woods, Churchills of 9 RTR were in support. H-Hour was set for 1500hrs. Fierce fighting ensued all day, until if petered out at 2100hrs @WeHaveWaysPod
2nd Parachute Regiment has used the Sandy hills and cover from the young saplings to slow the advance down, splitting 5KOSB and 5HLI, knocking out 1 Churchill with a panzerfaust. 7/9 Royal Scots & 1 Glasgow Highlanders would need to clear the rest the following day @WeHaveWaysPod

SITREP-Broderbosche now known as Afferden Woods by the evening of the 17th the entire woods were now clear after Royal Scots entered the battle, and the Glasgow Hdrs took the hamlet of Rempeld. However, the main objective of taking the Afferden/Goch road had not been achieved
