I’ve seen a lot of comments today with people not believing that people with learning disabilities (PWLD) are having DNAR’s put on them unnecessarily. Yes it’s true, it’s disgusting and this isn’t new sadly. PWLD have been facing healthcare inequalities for a very long time. 1/5
When I say this is a long standing issue, over 1200 people with a learning disability die avoidable deaths each year due to inequitable healthcare.
The Learning Disabilities Mortality Review outlines many cases of people with a learning disability dying avoidably.

The Confidential Enquiry into the Premature Deaths of People with learning disabilities (CIPOLD) outlines many more awful cases in which people died avoidable deaths.

Death by Indifference again outlines avoidable deaths.

I’m sorry to make such a sad thread, but I think people need educating on this topic so that EVERYONE can be outraged and some change can happen. It is disgusting that some of the most wonderful people in society can be at the bottom of the heap and ignored.
And the reason I outline these reports is because if you don’t believe DNAR’s are happening for no reason, you can see the evidence that people with learning disabilities have been treated incredibly poorly for a long long time, not just during the pandemic.
