I asked if the proposed bus corridor on #OConnellStLk is to be reviewed.
The NTA responded that as Part 8 was passed last year it is no longer being reviewed as part of the strategy. I reminded them that the Part 8 was passed with a commitment for flexibility of use

Cllr. Collins @jamesjcollins noted that at Part 8 stage elected reps were told that the bus corridor was introduced by the NTA, now the NTA are saying that the bus corridor is being included as a result of the Part 8.

In response the NTA stated that #LSMATS is broadstrokes and that the bus routes will be subject to a more detailed plan and as such there is future flexibility to move the route. NTA agreed to give that commitment to LCCC in writing.

The NTA referenced Dublin, Cork and proposed plans in Galway to show bus corridors on historic city main streets.
Imo, both O'Connell St. Dublin and Patrick St. Cork show the negative impact of bus corridors on historic streets. They are hostile, noisy & polluted.

A new public consultation period will begin in April this year. I would love to see more people thinking about our beautiful historic centre and our most important street.
