This is a daily thread celebrating the greatest players we have had at Chelsea Football Club so feel free to Follow a fellow Blue đź’™ #CFC #ChelseaFC @ChelseaFC
Pat was born in Glasgow in 1963 and was invited to train with @CelticFC but would be rejected for being 'too small'! (Didn't Messi get told something similar?). Celtic's loss was Clyde's gain as he would score 17 goals in 73 apps. He has been inducted into the Clyde Hall of Fame!
Chelsea signed Pat for a whopping ÂŁ95,000 in '83 (Quite the sum). His arrival would coincide with the time of the legendary @Real_KerryDixon and David Speedie. What a combination these three would be! Pat would be named our player of the season as we would be Division 2 champions
Pat would continue his fine form, alongside Dixon and Speedie in Division 1, helping us finish a very respectable 6th in our first season back. Nevin would also play a crucial role in our run to the League Cup semis in 1985, including an incredible performance against @swfc
Pat would be named Player of the Year once again in 1987 but unfortunately we would be relegated just one year later. Having made a stunning contribution to our club as a brilliant and tricky winger, Pat would leave for Everton in 1988 having made 193 apps and scoring 36 goals.
Spells at Tranmere, Kilmarnock and Motherwell would follow before retirement. Pat continues to provide a great contribution to our club through various means such as Chelsea TV and writing a column for the official club website.
