I’ll restart 🙂

Back before brexit I was asked to drive a van load of art to Belgium .

Long story short , with the border closed and bust on other work - the job never went .

Anyway !

Beginning of jan it was attempted to get the gear over , but there was an issue 1.
with the vat - and this stuff wasn’t cheap , as customer already paid the vat on the U.K.

After one month !! - it was decided goods could travel on a T2 to Belgium

Last week T2 issued , and driver went to collect papers . Was told there was an X on the MRN and sent to 2.
ebbsfleet ( from Ashford )

Once there he was asked what he was doing there - and he shouldn’t be there .. and asked to leave . But he couldn’t leave as it is a customs bonded facility . So 5 hours later he was allowed to leave

This is where the problems started .. 3.
Got to the train , got ON the train , got to Calais and told to go to customs ( customs is outside the terminal and if it’s your first time it’s easy to get lost) which he did and ended up on the motorway

Anyway -

4.
Got to customs in Calais .. stuck for six hours ( on top of 5 in the U.K. ) where he was told “ sorry wrong papers were escorting you back to the train your going back to the U.K. “

He actually said he wished he filmed it as it was a complete shitshow

5.
The goods are now back in the U.K. - couldn’t deliver as the french are insisting on a T1 even though there’s nothing to pay on the goods and they now have no idea how to get them over . That it . That’s the conversation I had this evening on the way home .12 odd hours in customs
Oh and lastly - he said there were drivers literally in tears once told they can go . God only knows how long some may have been there for .
