🖤Playboi Carti - Die Lit🦋
Playboi Carti has always been about pushing boundaries in trap music, and this album doesn’t break that pattern at all. Carti is able to experiment by expanding on his minimalist trap sound and vocal inflections from his ST mixtape and introducing punk aesthetics into his music.
The hazy atmosphere created by this album is really refreshing, and even nearly 2 and a half years later, I haven’t gotten tired of it. If anything, I think it’s grown on me. I think this is due to the repetitive, hook-heavy style that Carti uses in a lot of his music. One
downside of this style is that this album lacks almost any lyrical depth. However I don’t think that it needs lyricism. The refreshing aesthetic, catchy rapping, and most importantly the consistently outstanding production are more than enough to carry this project through it’s
hour long runtime without feeling dragged out or boring. This project is just plain good. It’s catchy, experimental, fun, unique, and these good qualities make it hard to dislike despite its apparent flaws.
