honestly i think this new breed of cyber bullying i’m seeing coming from leftist gen z teens is definitely linked to the wave of “fandom activism” that was happening on tumblr
kids latching onto progressive buzzwords and phrases without any actual clue what they mean or how to properly apply them. all of this is just a horribly mangled misinterpretation of “you can’t oppress your oppressors”
any person they see as the “enemy” deserves to be harassed/die and they genuinely don’t think anything is wrong with that because you’re “allowed” be violent towards the “enemy”
they think as long as they have the supposed moral higher ground they can be as cruel and inhumane as they want to those they consider “evil”. it’s why antis and kpop stans have ACTUALLY sent people to the hospital/suicidebaited them and don’t see the issue with it
they think “well it’s okay because that person was evil”, and evil people always deserve to die. same reason you see a lot of them get up in arms about fictional villains being redeemed. “evil” people can’t possibly EVER be good, or morally gray.
