Here are the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, FYI:

Dull headache
Weakness
Dizziness
Nausea or vomiting
Shortness of breath
Confusion
Blurred vision
Loss of consciousness

A lot of people with CO poisoning start out feeling like they're getting the flu. https://twitter.com/LinaHidalgoTX/status/1361730028707344392
You can get carbon monoxide poisoning if you burn propane or charcoal indoors; if you run a generator too close to somewhere that air comes into your house; if you're in a running car and the tailpipe is blocked; if you have a gas appliance that's malfunctioning.
It's a really good idea to have a carbon monoxide detector, but if you live somewhere that just got a bunch of ice dumped on the roads, it's probably a bad time to go get one.
This particular crisis is a good illustration of why a carbon monoxide detector is a good idea even if all your appliances are electric, tbh. MANY people don't make great decisions when they're cold and scared.
But the main point I want to make: right now, a lot of people will interpret "headache / queasy" as "shit, I must have caught COVID."

If you have a friend or family member who tells you they think they're coming down with COVID, consider the possibility that it's CO poisoning.
