I've been tested COVID-19 positive today! Done at Somali Sudanese Hospital in Mogadishu with a heavy price of $175! I'm not sure if this was an isolated incident, but I felt like when they figured out I was insured by my employer thy decided to milk me. CC: @MoH_Somalia @AbikarDr
At 10am, I approached the receptionist told her "I came for COVID-19 test". Explained all symptoms I was feeling, all were straight-forward: headache, fever, lost taste and smell, back-pain, chest and eyes discomfort. Unfortunately, the lady decided 2 get a ticket of $5 for me...
... just to meet an "internal medicine doctor". It was fine in my books as long as he would advise me to take the test after listening to my concerns. But that didn't happen. I had to enter a long queue along with other patients including senior citizens who came for other....
... health issues. Was that even necessary? Imagine, someone with COVID-19 symptoms being forced to line up with a mom suffering from diabetes? I run away from her place &sat another corner 2 avoid the possibility of complicating her life. I discovered her illness in the process.
After 40 minutes in the waiting, I finally met the doctor. The first thing I asked was why're they not separating COVID-19 suspects from other patients coming at the Hospital? No clear response. To cut long story short, after the interview, the guy had to send me for other exams.
