My interpretation and thoughts on why "they" want us divided. If they are able to get everyone to focus on what makes us different, individuals will begin to wrap their identity in their uniqueness. Suddenly, each group has an oppressive enemy to focus on, a Ying to their Yang.
However, Jesus Christ teaches unity - oneness. If you wrap your identity in Jesus Christ you start to see all as brothers and sisters and you naturally care for their struggles. Unfortunately, while on the surface it looks like a good thing to celebrate
what makes us unique (i.e. sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, generation, etc) it only causes people to focus on that singular aspect of their identity. I am a father, son, husband, brother, and friend. I am not one thing, I am many, and because of this I relate to many aspects
of society. "They" are actively trying to kill this ability for empathy by killing the opportunity of fellowship and promoting what makes us different. I am reminded of an African Proverb that states: "if you wish to go fast, go alone. If you wish to go far - go together."
My hope is more people will begin to seek out the Truth of Jesus Christ. They will then see just how united and alike we really are - not how different. They will begin to understand how what they do for the least of humanity, they did for the King of humanity.
