‼️ THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN MAKING A CARRD; A HELPFUL THREAD TO MAKE THEM AS ACCESSIBLE AND EASY TO NAVIGATE AS POSSIBLE ‼️

[rt ↪️to spread; bookmark 🔖for future reference]
Note: This is NOT a tutorial on how to make a carrd. I’m just giving guidance for those who already know how to make one and want to make their carrds efficient! I hope this thread can be helpful!

It'll be parts, unless there's anything else I need to add!
1) TEXT AND BACKGROUND COLOUR COMBINATIONS.
Refer to the chart below to guide you.
Avoid using colours for the text and background that are similar to each other, such as pastel on pastel or dark on dark.
2) FONT SIZE AND LETTER SPACING.
Avoid making them too small or squished together. Fonts should be big enough and letters spaced out well!
3) DON’T USE COPY & PASTE FONTS.
Screen readers can’t read them and they show up as boxes on older devices. Why go to different websites for "aesthetic" fonts when http://carrd.co  has already provided a wide range of them?
Might I add, please choose readable fonts.
4) LABEL YOUR BUTTONS.
PLEASE label them. Presenting your page with anime boys or random images ISN'T a good idea. Your readers can’t tell which one is the dni section- the most important part of the whole carrd.
5) NAVIGATION BUTTONS.
Be sure to provide back, forward and home buttons. You don’t want your reader to be stuck on one of the sections.
6) ORDER OF CONTENTS.
The most important part of the carrd is the “do not interact” section. If you’re going to sequence your carrd, I strongly suggest this order: about (basic info, don’t make it too long) -> do not interact -> before you follow -> interests and whatever else.
7) ALT CARRDS.
If you decide to make a carrd that not everyone can tolerate, e.g it contains eye-straining colours, flashing lights and triggering content, please create an alternative carrd so that it’s accessible for everyone. Link it on the first page of your main carrd!
8) LINKS.
People like to type in random things into http://carrd.co  to find carrds! They might find someone cool but no links to contact them is provided, so add them in! Make sure your main twitter platform is linked, as well as other social media if you like.
9) CREDIT ART.
If you’re going to use art in your carrd, check the artist’s profile to see if they allow their art to be used or not. If they allow it, CREDIT them in your carrd.
10) GO OVER YOUR CARRD.
Re-read and navigate through the carrd yourself. This is CRUCIAL that you don’t publish a carrd with grammatical errors and links & buttons that don’t direct you to the correct sites.

Be sure to check that it looks fine on BOTH PC AND mobile.
11) OPTIONAL: HOVER COLOURS AND ANIMATIONS
This is completely up to personal preference, but I think adding these makes the carrd reading experience a lot more pleasant!!
-END OF THREAD-
Thank you for reading up to this far! If you have any suggestions, comment it below and I’ll add it to the thread!

Here's my carrd if you're interested in seeing a good example of one (not to toot my own horn or anything lmao)
