As we get into the thick of the NFL Draft season, make sure you remember some of the basic facts of draft/prospect analysis:
If someone ranks a prospect ahead of a player from your favorite school; they either hate the school, player, or you personally.
If a prospect plays the same position, at the same school, as a previous draft bust; that player is automatically horrible.
Player comparisons are direct predictions of career outcomes/results.
It's important to go back multiple years to find the prospects an analyst was wrong about; thus proving they know absolutely nothing about the draft, no one should listen to them, and they should be ridiculed accordingly.
Spider charts.
Make sure you remind everyone about the outcomes of the games analysts are using for specific play examples for prospects.
'It doesn't matter that this clip shows good independent hand usage by an OL, the other team ran for 250 and won by a hundred.'
'It doesn't matter that this clip shows good independent hand usage by an OL, the other team ran for 250 and won by a hundred.'
"bad 3 cone"
Just because an analyst specializes in a certain position group and/or has coached/recruited/scouted/etc. that position at the collegiate or professional level DOESN'T mean they know more than you.
"Trust me, I watched every game he played at State..."
Certain conferences just don't produce any good players at certain positions.
