Let me tell you a tale of David and Goliath.

The MN Public Utilities Commission (PUC) provides oversight and regulation for many utilities companies. They base their decisions on records developed in proceedings. 1/4
Participation in PUC dockets is extremely resource intensive. But large utility companies bill back those costs to their millions of customers, to advocate for the outcome they'd like to see.
In contrast, public interest groups have no other option but to eat the cost. 2/4
The Intervenor Compensation bill I'm carrying would allow nonprofits, tribal governments and residents to be compensated for their time & energy when presenting to the PUC, which will ensure that the Commission considers a range of expertise, experiences, and perspectives. 3/4
Intervenor Compensation isn't a sexy topic. It's not beautifully simplistic, like Solar on Schools. It's doesn't have groundbreaking goals like 100% Clean Energy. But it is an important step in leveling the playing field in an industry full of Goliaths. 4/4
