For #FairyTaleTuesday, a thread of some lesser-known Arthurian knights and warriors! Some used to be a big deal but have fallen by the wayside, some are well-known but not in conjunction with Arthur, some are just obscure, but they've all got SOMETHING that feels like potential.
SIR SAGRAMORE THE DESIROUS, Prince of Hungary and of Constantinople. His exhausting berserker rages and seizures led Sir Kay to nickname him Morte Jeune, meaning 'Dead Youth'. After mistaking a maiden's room for his own and spending the night, he married her to avoid a scandal.
SIR MORIEN. The son of Sir Aglovale and an African princess, Morien came to Britain looking for his father after he and his mother were disinherited of their lands. Morien was a powerful fighter, wore all-black Moorish armour and was a big, strapping fellow, even as a teenager.
TOM THUMB. The famous tiny boy was swallowed by a fish, which was then caught and served to King Arthur. He became a darling of the court and was knighted, and even won the hand of Arthur's daughter Huncamunca. Sadly, jealousies and court intrigues led to his downfall and death.
JACK THE GIANT KILLER. A cunning Cornish warrior of humble birth, Jack caught Camelot's attention after killing a number of giants and becoming a servant of King Arthur's son. He was knighted and eventually married a duke's daughter, whom he had rescued from the giant Galligantus
GARGANTUA. The giant Gargantua's parents, Grandgousier and Gargamelle, were created by Merlin from whale bones, Lancelot's blood, and Guinevere's nail clippings. With his 60-foot club, Gargantua served Arthur for 200 years (somehow?) and was later taken to Avalon by Morgan le Fay
