Among mayorals, only @scottmstringer & @ericadamsfornyc getting more public matching funds this month — big filing deadline coming up in March where other candidates could unlock big public $ https://twitter.com/nyccfb/status/1361706752002187265
Stringer, Adams, & @mayawiley have hit matching funds threshold already, unlocking millions; @AndrewYang says hit it, will get $ via March filing; @ShaunDonovanNYC & @Dianne4NYC both say they'll also hit threshold in March. @KGforNYC TBD. ( @RayForMayor not doing public matching.)
Per filings in & campaign comments, D mayoral candidates hitting public matching threshold as of March filing, unlocking big $, will include: @scottmstringer @ericadamsfornyc @mayawiley @Dianne4NYC @KGforNYC @ShaunDonovanNYC @AndrewYang. ( @RayForMayor not seeking public $)
Obviously we need to actually see the March filings from campaigns saying they'll hit the thresholds (Donovan, Morales, Garcia, Yang), & Wiley's still waiting on 1st batch of public $ campaign should be getting in March - which will be just 3 months from start of June voting.
Inbox: @NYCCFB “approved $18,660,290 in public matching funds payments to 124 candidates in the largest public funds payment thus far in the 2021 New York City election cycle.”
CFB has paid a total of $37,778,768 to 147 candidates in the 2021 elections thus far, incl. 2 mayoral candidates, 3 comptroller candidates, 12 BP candidates, & 130 City Council candidates. "111 candidates have received public funds payments for the first time ever"
Notable in Comptroller race: while @NYSenBenjamin & @bradlander continue to accrue matching $, @zachiscol, who recently shifted from mayoral race, now gets $1,401,582 in matching $. Big windfall after raising $ for mayoral bid then using it to hit lower comptroller thresholds.
Borough President candidates getting matching $:
City Council candidates getting matching $:
Back to mayor's race for a moment. As mentioned, still only 2 candidates who've gotten matching $: Adams & Stringer. Wiley had indicated she hit the threshold, but it appears CFB found otherwise in its audit. All but certain Wiley gets the big batch of matching $ in March.
In January, Wiley campaign said she hit thresholds of overall $ ($250K) & individual contributors (1K) from inside the city, w "$280,000...matchable in our public program" but appears CFB review accepted under $250K as matchable as of now.
CFB audits filings & "These audit reviews can result in a campaign falling below the threshold to qualify for public funds payments." Camps can provide more info/fix filings "to validate that a contribution is eligible to be matched with public funds" & qualify at next shot.
Important to note about the above & candidates getting matching $: this is for today's CFB decision/payout. There have been prior payouts in January and December, where other candidates got matching $ & may not be listed. These numbers are not the sum or cumulative.
