The people hating on Jalen Hurts are doing so after only 4 career games and are ONLY looking at the numbers... remember that.
How about these other 2 guys after their first 4 career games?
Jalen was not asked to throw at Alabama as a FR or SO. I was there & had the privilege of working for the program. That offense was a run heavy, one pass read, and play defense type of team. As uptempo offenses became Alabamaâs weakness, they were forced to change to keep up.
Between his SO & JR year there was a transition in offensive scheme. Tua at that time was the better passer & Jalen wasnât ready to fit the new scheme. Alabama then hired a QB coach for one year, just for Jalen. So he could develop.

Jalen then went to OU for his senior year and was 6th in the nation in adjusted comp %. He was 2nd in efficiency rating.
He had a better comp % than Tua, Herbert, Lawrence, and Fields.

He was drafted to PHI and had no offseason. No chance to develop a rhythm or timing with the WRs on the roster. His supporting cast around him was poor. No duh his comp % over his 4 games wasnât that good.
(Wentz was just as bad vs man coverage.)

Jalens comp % vs zone was 72 and vs man it was 53. His 72 comp % vs zone shows that he can read defenses contradictory to popular belief. His 53 comp % vs man was bc of the lack of weapons & no time to practice w/ them in the offseason. The QB/WR timing is crucial to success. https://twitter.com/pff_fantasy/status/1358898910975115266
Jalen now enters his first real NFL offseason and has already begun to plan workouts with the WRs. In addition to that, the Eagles will more than likely upgrade the skill players around. His comp % vs man will go up bc of this.
Jalen has gotten better each year since his FR year at Alabama at passing. The numbers and the tape suggest that. So whatâs not to say he canât take another leap this offseason? He is still growing. His strengths are the deep ball, passing outside the numbers, and rushing.
Here comes Sirianni. A specialist at developing a scheme around players abilities & strengths. If you donât think Jalen will continue to develop as a passer then youâre crazy. Hell, the QB coach has known Jalen since he was 4 & recruited him. The staff was built to develop Jalen.
@DynoGameTheory has a fanatic thread on what makes an elite fantasy QB. Jalen meets every threshold except draft capital. Does being drafted 21 spots out of the first make it or break it for you? Or does only a 4 game sample size of comp % do it? Letâs ignore everything else.

Some other notes on Jalen. His FF points were not a fluke.
- Weeks 14-16 he was the QB3.
- Weeks 14-17 he was the QB4 (only played 3.5 games.)
- Week 15 he was the overall QB1.

Btw, this isnât just for fantasy. Iâm talking real life football as well. He will develop into one of the leagues best young QBs.
You canât be out here preaching â3rd year breakoutsâ and at the same time call someone a bust after 4 games.

Do not bet against Jalen. He has a mentality, a swagger, a mindset, and intangibles that are not teachable. He has the âITâ factor.
Focus on what he can do rather than what he canât do. And what he canât do?...he will outwork everyone to be able to do it.
Iâm all in.
