yoongi is the most successful at being subtle about it but ... that’s not saying much. he still stares a little too long, still feels his mouth go dry and occasionally knows he finds reasons to stand beside hoseok, just to feel his knuckles brushing against his thigh.
jungkook is arguably the /least/ subtle but only because he goes out of his way not to look. of course, hoseok can’t help noticing that all of a sudden their maknae is, well, distracted. cant focus properly on anything. cant look at him directly. or,looks at him /too/ directly.
its similar to the behavior of namjoon, who has developed a well practiced and highly conspicuous method of giving hoseok direct eye contact as soon as he walks into a room and not breaking it for a single moment. if he’s looking at hoseok’s /eyes/ then he can’t see his /thighs/.
the exact opposite of seokjin’s “if i even remotely acknowledge that jung hoseok exists while he is wearing those shorts, i shall surely perish and turn to dust.” sometimes he doesn’t even listen when hoseok /talks/ cus he’s scared he’ll be able to /hear/ the shorts.
jimin is encourages the shorts. makes sure to give hoseok extra compliments on how lovely they are, and buys him a few more pairs that he likes even more. he smooths his hands over the fabric, gives little teasing squeezes to hoseok’s ass and giggles when he swats his hand away.
taehyung is the only one forward enough to actually flat out admit that the shorts are sexy. none of them are really expecting it but then he just-

“here comes hobi-hyung and his little fuck-me shorts again.”

to which hoseok replies:

“my WHAT?!”
he just kind of ... looks down at himself, legs exposed and tan, shorts hanging loosely just above mid thigh.

he knows they’re ,, certainly not the most modest item of clothing that he owns but what’s the big deal? they see him /naked/ for fuck’s sake!
“you see me naked for fuck’s sake!” hoseok argues, this time out loud.

“but when you’re naked you’re /already naked/,” jungkook mutters, “that’s different from wearing something that makes everyone want to /imagine/ you naked.”
hoseok’s face flushes red and he’s caught somewhere between the desire to tug the shorts down in hopes that they’ll cover more skin ... and the desire to settle down on the couch beside them and cross his legs to ‘accidentally’ expose a little more.
the idea of being desired by the six of them isn’t one that’s even remotely repulsive. it’s not like they haven’t al fooled around together at some point or another to some degree but ... hoseok had been truly oblivious to the effect the shorts were having on the other members.
they discover that making hoseok /aware/ of the allure of the shorts gave him wayyy too much power.

he starts wearing them around the house even more. especially when he wants something. they become a fail proof manipulation tactic and no ones super mad about it.
“hyuuung~” hoseok will pout out, sprawling himself over the foot of seokjin’s bed, shorts riding up to hug under his ass. “i know you haven’t been in the mood to cook with your allergies and everything but i saw a yummy recipe i wanna try. can you at least keep me company?”
seokjin had already promised himself an evening in bed to zone out on his laptop for as long as he pleased but ... hoseok’s ass do look damn good in those shorts and watching him strut around the kitchen in them isn’t exactly a /bad/ way to spend their day off now is it
jungkook is fairly agreeable as it is, so hoseok uses the shorts less as a persuasive tool and more as a torture method. he likes to walk in front of the tv while jungkook is watching shows or playing video games. likes to bend over when he’s “helping tidy up” in jungkook’s room.
“yah, so many dust bunnies under our bunny’s bed!” hoseok teases, back arched as he reaches deeply beneath the bed frame, knowing that jungkook is standing in the doorway and gawking openly.

“h-hyung?”

“just cleaning! nothing to see here!”

he wiggles a little. jungkook chokes.
it’s fun to show off the shorts to namjoon cus he kind of ... glitches.

hoseok likes to catch him off guard, approaching him from behind and fondling at his chest.

“namjoonie~ how’s our leader’s day going, hmm?”

namjoon doesn’t have to See the shorts. the shorts are a Vibe.
he stutters. takes a stumble backwards that just draws him closer to hoseok’s body.

hoseok learns not to approach when namjoon is holding something, or he’ll drop it.

“this shorts are new, joonie. wanna see?”

hoseok backs up. does a little twirl. and namjoon just ... freezes.
yoongi is a surprisingly difficult target, because he seems to have simply accepted that the shorts are a weakness and caved into their power before hoseok /does/ anything. he tugs him down to his lap, sets his hands on hoseok’s thighs and just ... squeezes. let’s himself enjoy.
“hyung you’re so cute getting all handsy like this,” hoseok always chuckles out, fingers playing with yoongi’s as they grip at his flesh.

“i have no idea what you’re talking about,” yoongi mutters against hoseok’s neck, nipping at the skin. “how about taking the shorts off?”
taehyung is, if anything, almost /aggravated/ by hoseok’s showcasing of the shorts.

“what, you weren’t distracting enough already walking around with that face? now you’re showing off the body too? what the fuck hyung?”
hoseok soothes him like he’s a tantruming child. cards his fingers through this hair and presses kisses atop his head, pinching at his cheeks.

“just admit you wanna fuck me, tae. it’s okay to wanna fuck me, i don’t mind.”

“you don’t need the shorts for that,” taehyung grumbles.
if jimin is enthusiastic about the shorts /before/ hoseok understands the power they hold, he becomes ten times much more excited once hoseok is in on it.

“men are weak and this weakness can and /should/ be exploited,” jimin insists, cuffing the shorts even shorter.
“the other members aren’t just ordinary ‘men’, jiminie,” hoseok reminds.

“neither are we,” jimin counters, dragging his eyes down hoseok’s body appraisingly and clearly liking what he sees. “you and i have the power to turn them into ordinary men. and we need to use it. often.”
overall, hoseok finds that his chances of having really good sex increase tenfold when he wears the shorts, which is reason enough to wear them around the house. it causes a bit of disruption at first but ... they get used to it.

they never quite get used to those shorts though.
