Texas hates the federal government so much it has its own outdated power grid. No other state in the country has been quite this stubborn, stupid and self-destructive about energy policy. This crisis is brought to you by deregulation.

Resisting federal help got Texas Into this mess, but Texas Republicans sure didn’t have a problem asking for federal help once the shit hit the fan.

My hope is that Texans don't suffer for naught. That the state modernizes its power grid and energy policy here. That GOP climate deniers — Abbott, Cornyn, Cruz, Crenshaw, Gohmert, Patrick, etc. — finally wake the fuck up. But not holding my breath.

Further proving this point: El Paso is not part of ERCOT, which manages 90% of the state’s electric load. El Paso is on the Western grid.
