Any time one of the students I TA asks me "how should I study for the midterm?" I should really start my email reply with "I am not a lawyer but..." #AcademicTwitter #Education #TeachingAssistantProblems
Don't get me wrong I think I give good advice. I offer what I think is broadly relevant, being covering all of the different situations covered in class but making sure they *understand* why a problem is solved a certain way.
There is so much more value to understanding how some problems work so your #knowledge can be applied to any situation (rather than just memorizing how to do a heat transfer problem in cartesian coordinates, for example).
Not to mention I don't know the learning styles of each student I TA (it's even harder to do so online) but usually through 1-on-1 interactions I figure out what style of explaining stuff works best for each individual student.
Basically, go to my office hours. I'm paid to help you learn good.
