How did the first year of the third AAP government in Delhi go – amidst an unprecedented global pandemic? Long thread below on my reflection of the signature achievements of the AAP govt in last 12 months across multiple sectors with links. 1/N
First, Covid management. Despite facing 3 serious waves, AAP govt stood strong & learned on the go to deliver a winning strategy against Covid - be it world’s first home isolation program, Delhi corona app for real time bed status or Plasma bank 2/N

What stands out for me is that our Covid strategy was led by the public healthcare system unlike in most parts of India or the world. Delhi’s LNJP hospital with 2000 beds became India’s largest Covid hospital and has so far treated 10k patients. 3/N

Covid also had a devastating impact on the livelihoods of millions. The extended social security net of AAP govt showed the remarkable possibilities of a welfare state, if they choose to prioritize the well being of their people over all else. 4/N

To deal with the loss of livelihoods and mismatch in job market, AAP govt quickly built a job matching site for blue collar workers – Rojgar Bazaar. The site was an instant hit with 13 lakh vacancies and 9 lakh job seekers registered so far. 5/N

Second, education. It will take us some time to assess the damage Corona has caused to Education. The AAP govt innovated to offer semi-online classes for students of govt schools. The e-learning content was a massive hit with 7 lakh views weekly 6/N

One of the most significant developments in education was the launch of Delhi’s Skills and Entrepreneurship University. With a vision to work closely with the industry, it promises to churn out over a lakh skilled workforce every year. 7/N

Third- Environment, where two new initiatives will make a deep impact for years to come. First, AAP govt collaborated with scientists to successfully pilot PUSA bio-decomposer solution as the most cost-effective solution to stubble burning so far 8/N

The other was green flagging of the project for real time source apportionment of pollution by a team of scientists at IIT Kanpur, TERI and IIT Delhi. It’s the first time a state govt is spending on pollution data for real time policy response. 9/N

Fourth, transport. Last year, Delhi govt started working on the most ambitious plan ever to overhaul the road infrastructure in national capital. Over 500 km of roads will be redesigned on European standards with pedestrian/cycling facilities. 10/N

Finally, Delhi’s EV Policy. In the works for nearly two years, it was immensely satisfying to see it being welcomed by industry and experts alike as something that can truly move the needle on pollution and lay the base for India’s EV revolution 11/N
