Probably got something to do with the decline of institutionalised monogamy, i.e marriage, Im guessing. We used to have a form of ‘sexual socialism.’ Now we a type of ‘sexual neoliberalism’ with huge sex inequalities i.e a small no of men have lots of sex, most have 0.

Persistence of female hypogamy means that some women would rather have sex with other women than sex with men on the bottom of the ‘sex ladder’?

Given a choice between relationships with men on the bottom of the sex ladder (yes I think Ive coined the term ‘sex ladder’) & relationships with other women, I think some women are choosing the latter option.

A) Females don't marry ‘down’ i.e female hypogamy persists despite modernity
