A thread on why @IlkayGuendogan is the most underrated player of all time and has been class for years now. Stats ( all are per game ) included are from 18/19 season since many say "He HaS bEeN gOoD oNlY fOr A mOnTh".

He may not directly be involved in goals but contributes to build-up plays. Second assist stats are important considering city style of play. This often be a penetrative pass to which a winger/ full-back get hold & make a cross.

Even though he play high up, he still contributes defensively by making tackles and winning the ball. Here's an example where he sees space, predicts opponent's pass, presses and wins the ball. Also this showing his footballing IQ.

Even though he is not a natural DM, he still does a very good job in it. He does really good when compared to other DM's in the league and can easily walk into many teams in the league.

His specialty as a DM comes when you see his offensive plays as a DM. This is really important to city's system as DM usually play a crucial role in build-up plays. He is the best attacking DM (hope it make sense)

IQ & Vision.
Here we can see him drop back, receives the ball, passes and continues his run to make him available for the next pass. Shows his awareness and Vision. He can easily predict what's gonna happen 4-5 passes before.

Work Rate
Gundo's work rate especially this season has been incredible. Can be seen with his heat map (this season). He is not only there near box to score but also runs back alongside rodri to defend.

Gundogan is one of the most complete midfielder and a brilliant footballer with high footballing IQ. Seen a lot of tweets saying he has been good for just one month but in all honesty, has been great for years.
