Imagine what can be achieved if Bear Clan Patrol is given the city allocation to the police to do their work. Just think of that for a second. That is what Defund the Police means.

Bear Clan is an Indigenous-led community-based organization that operates as a culturally-safe and humane crime prevention alternative. They are volunteer and donation supported. The police are...well, the police, and get money from govts. to suck at being humane.

Municipal taxes are not a fee for service. But ratepayers have a say in what services the taxes should pay for. Demand better from your city. Don't let #yegcc tell you policing is the only option. That's a lie.

One organization was there to feed those without shelter during an extreme weather event. The other institution was there to throw them out in the cold. Which institution should your city support with funding?
