What we’ve learn’t watching the portraits from #EXPOSURENHEWHAM of Lyunade Ajibola (Ade), Adeola Agbebiyi, Anna Collini, Arun Mahay and Ben Fraser
Ade told us about her first time time she encounter someone with Covid (not at the hospital) and how devastating this was on her and her church community. She also shared about what her team meant to her in keeping her safe (so much love there).
Adeola reflected on how racism is a public health issue and how structural injustice effects our mindbodies, the responsibility she feels for not being prepared enough.
Anna spoke about her work developing the difficult conversation phone call (staff calling families to tell the worst news that would normal be shared in person) and PPE training - and how all her training became therapy for the staff.
Arun shared about the how patients have stayed with him and feeling helpless as a doctor early on in the first wave as so little was known about the virus.
Ben told us about his role as being to just make sure people had what they need financially, but also imagined what a holistic health campus that served Newham’s long term health inequalities would be like.
TOP PEOPLE. DEEP RESPECT.

We will be presenting some of the footage in Newham this summer, with music and a space for sharing (thanks Arts Council) for local folx, health workers and everyone else - watch this space for announcements.
