Interrupting my new hiatus to because of this Ravi Zacharias issue because I was a proponent of his person and ministry for a long time.
When he died, I tweeted a lot about him. I remember someone sent me a DM that Ravi was a fraud and sexual predator. I blocked the person.

I didn't follow Ravi just for his apologetics. It was his way with words and the way he loved people (or the way I thought he loved people).
I gave up on apologetics a while ago but I still followed him for the stories, the wit and his humanity.

Seeing the interim report last year broke me but thankfully, before then, I'd started getting used to the fact that a person can be many things.
It was a tough spill to swallow but I immediately switched to thinking of the victims and how their lives had been forever changed.

It is unfair to these people to uphold the words or "legacy" of this man. They too are anointed in Christ. They have been dishonored, wounded and broken by someone they trusted.
You can't write this off. You can't attempt to protect some twisted legacy in God's name.

If you think of the gospel or God as powerful, you must cease your attempt to defend or protect them. They'll live.
We cannot, must not play down the pain of the people on the other side of this evil.
This is part of Ravi's legacy too. Let it live on.

We must create a safe space for the wounded and God forbid you brand the predator as the prey.
You'd notice that his victims were the unprivileged, the oppressed, the unspoken for. The very same people that God asked us to protect. The people for whom we are to seek justice.

By saying things like "this is an attack on his legacy or on the gospel or on the church", you are twisting the narrative.
You are renaming who the actual victim is. And that is exactly what it is to pervert justice.
Don't be that person.
Peace.
