The Paired Omics Data Platform just got out in @nchembio! Excited & Proud!
Platform: https://pairedomicsdata.bioinformatics.nl ; Paper: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41589-020-00724-z; or as direct read: https://rdcu.be/cfeHC A little thread!

Two years ago, within the #iOMEGA project we were wondering how much #paired #omics #datasets would be openly available. Turned out to be quite a journey to find them as most information on how to link genomes to metabolomics data was in supporting pdf files. A project was borne!
Together with @Michelle_Schorn, Stefan Verhoeven ( @eScienceCenter), @Pdorrestein1 and @marnixmedema, I started to draft ideas on how to change this situation. With incredible #support from an enthusiastic #naturalproducts #community, we got a lot of feedback on our ideas!

Not only that, after we established minimum descriptive standards with @kate_duncan, @sdrogers, @MCrusemann, @me_datapoint, and many others, a consoritium of more than 100 researchers was built that contributed >4800 paired omics datasets of isolates and microbial communities.
Furthermore, more than 100 validated links of #biosynthetic #gene #clusters with corresponding #mass #spectral #fragmentation #data and #structural #information was recorded - driving development of future #algorithms linking the genome and metabolome!

My thanks goes out to the entire #PoDP consortium for their continued support, and funding and I hope to see many more #paired #omics #datasets appearing in the nearby future. Please find a Figure (thanks to @BioRender) below that summarizes the platform!

This is my first senior author paper since starting my own group in Wageningen and I feel indebted to all that contributed knowledge, expertise, and (of course!) #omics data! Surely standing on the shoulders of (many) giants here.... Thank you all!
