THREAD: Food for thought as we weigh policy options for AFG.
1) Progress on many fronts shouldn’t be termed as GAINS, making it negotiable. 20 yrs & the progress is now how we EXIST & live. I don’t think any woman wakes up in d morning thinking of her existence as d gain.
2) Now if Taliban wish to integrate to our current state of existence, they first need to accept it & prepare to transition, not the other way round. Making way through violence is not a good place to start when you demand prospects of future governance & leadership.
3) Currently deteriorated quality of governance shouldn’t justify overthrow of our democratic governance all together— republic for me is not about Pre. Ghani it is about my right to exist & be able to choose a different president.
4) Condition- based, multilateral diplomacy should be practiced with certain “neighbors” in the region who don’t respond well to ONLY diplomacy & bilateral engagement.
