Gotta talk about this, been meaning to for a while but this shit has blown up so, why not now?
In the last decade one thing I have come to see in every aspect of fandoms and hobbies is that there's now a divide right down the middle: the originals, and the nu-fans.
In the last decade one thing I have come to see in every aspect of fandoms and hobbies is that there's now a divide right down the middle: the originals, and the nu-fans.
The originals love the product, for example Star Wars and the extended universe books and comic, the lore, the amazing characters, not just the world building but literal universe building of it all.
The nu-fans are only able to find enjoyment if they believe that enjoyment pisses someone else off.
Or, marvel and DC. The originals enjoy the multitude of different characters from different backgrounds, fleshed out personalities with actual struggles that they overcome....

The nu-fans care more about immutable characteristics like gender skin color and sexual orientation, and are only able to enjoy the product if they think it pisses the originals off.
Watchmen was a great example of this.

Western cartoon fans loved the characters, the cleverness of humor, the innovative animation techniques and unique styles, and themes that challenged what a cartoon could be.
Nu-fans want puffy bean mouthed lesbians. Or catgirl foot fetish lesbians. Or anything that focuses on immutable characteristics - weight, orientation, gender, race. Anything that they think someone else doesn't like, because they only can enjoy it if they think others are mad.
I could go on and on forever but if you're awake you noticed a pattern to this all: the nu-fans have some serious mental issues. Seriously, what kind of person can only enjoy things if they think someone else is mad they're enjoying something?
And this leads them to seek out conflict. To make people angry at them, so they can mentally justify this shit. Bitching at artists. Bitching at shippers. Bitching at femboys. Bitching at mangaka and studios. Bitching at streamers. Bitching at companies.
If your life revolves around bitching to try and make people mad at you, what kind of life is that? Where is the fun? Where's the joy? Where is the love? Where's the fulfillment?
Can't you just be happy, for once in your lives?
