New to #DnD? My suggestion is to not watch any videos that tell you "How to Play" this class or that subclass or whatever.

Jump in with your group and play. Do things wrong. Mess up and start again. Learn what works for you and your group. Don't play someone else's way.
If you're a DM for new players, let them do all the above. Have open discussions after the game. Make minor suggestions about things they *could* do, but don't force them to. Also, let them make changes to their first character if desired. Even offer the option at 5th level.
Just ask them. "Hey, now that you've played a bit, is there anything about your character choices (not "build" ffs) you'd like to change?" And then LET THEM. But, also make sure they know that this isn't normal and it's a special case since they are learning the game.
If you're a new DM, make sure the players understand that and that they are supportive. Run a pre-written adventure. Start at 1st level. Only allow options from the Player's Handbook. As you get a feel for things, branch out. But, to start, keep things simple.
Players for new DM's, be supportive! Let them find their style, don't force yours on them. Agree when rules discussions are to take place. At the moment or after the game? Don't min/max, as this can skew a new DM's view of character power. Just jump in and have fun.
Again, I can't stress this enough, don't bother with articles or videos telling you how you should play, "build" a character, run the game, or anything else. Just gather your friends, understand that there will be mistakes, and jump in. Make it fun - it doesn't have to be perfect
