🚨A thread on Twitter optimization🚨
To be clear, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all hack. We all communicate & interact w/ others differently. This is merely a framework based on my positive experience using TWTR for professional & educational purposes. It’s worked for me, & I hope it can assist u in ur journey as well
It is important to first remember that your profile is a direct reflection of you. People know you by the information you put forth. What type of brand do you want to develop for yourself? Be mindful of this as you interact with others, share content, etc.
Authenticity is the name of the game. Ppl can spot a fake from miles away. There are countless ppl online pretending to be someone they’re not, but there is only one you. Being yourself is your superpower. Own who you are. It’s what makes you interesting. It’s what makes you, YOU
Crafting a narrative around who u r, developing a personal brand, will help u find ur tribe. U will inherently be herded towards those w/ similar interests & backgrounds based on the info u put forth. The algos work well that way. Over time u will “meet” more & more relevant ppl
Not sure what to talk about? If there’s a topic you’re particularly passionate about, this is the best place to start. Post your thoughts, ask questions of others, aggregate information and launch a stimulating conversation. Tag thought leaders in the space to obtain their input.
By no means do you have to be a subject matter expert to “win” at Twitter. It’s a unique space in the sense that anyone & everyone can contribute, ask questions, & learn from each other. Anyone can be a participant. You can ask questions. You can share ur opinion. Get involved.
Engagement is more important than follower count. Read that again.

I’ve gotten the most value out of TWTR from the friends made & genuine interactions had along the way. Don’t be transactional. Turn ur time spent on TWTR into time well spent. Quality followers > follower count #
Like anything else, TWTR (in simplest form) operates by supply & demand. Supply good content in some way, shape, or form, & followers will come. Eventually, they might demand ur content. But u have to give, to get. Do not sit & beg for followers. Rather, be an active participant.
Whether ur here to network, learn more about a specific topic(s), or just for fun, there are ways to increase ur # of interactions & get more eyeballs on ur account:

1. Create your own content
2. Share quality content from others
3. Have valuable interactions w/ other accounts
The most important part of the advice above is to remain omnipresent. Consistency counts. Remain active on ur account to draw attention & create connections. U get the most out of TWTR by truly getting to know ppl, & relationships take time. Put yourself out there & share away!
Have questions? Ask them. Want to talk to someone? Send a DM. Be polite, appropriate & friendly. The worst someone can do is not answer. Almost nobody is “off limits” ... Even the best & brightest become easily accessible on TWTR. So shoot your shot, but don’t waste their time.
Vulnerability can be quite valuable. Often times, ppl use their acct as a highlight reel.. It’s unrealistic. We’re all human, & ppl tend to forget that. Especially online.

Ppl who share success & failure, times of joy & times of difficulty, are a breath of fresh air.
Keep things in perspective. We’ve all gotten caught up in this virtual world more than once. Remember to step back and take regular breaks from social media. It truly makes a difference.
There will always be ppl trying to bring you down. The more followers u have, the more often u will encounter this. Do. Not. Engage. Learn to decipher between what could become a spirited debate, vs. a mean spirited comment made to illicit a negative response. Avoid toxicity.
Again, ur account is a reflection of u. Do not put anything online that u would not want associated w/ u. Think twice before u tweet, DM & share. As soon as u post, screenshots can be taken, & information u put out can never be permanently erased. It can all be traced back to u!
It doesn’t matter who u are, or where u come from. Everyone is capable of sharing their thoughts on TWTR. We can all contribute. We all have a voice. We will all find our, “tribe”; there truly is a space in this strange corner of the internet for everyone. I hope u find yours!
While I tried to keep the above advice general, I’d be happy to answer any questions or elaborate on points made. I’ve always been a “connector” and I forget that what is common sense to me, may not come naturally to others. Here to help in any way that I can.
Thanks for reading!
Bonus tip: Weed through the accounts you follow to control the quality of content that shows up in your feed. Be mindful of who you surround yourself with, even online. Whether you notice it or not, it has a substantial impact.
