The pandemic has had the positive effect of forcing @RIHouseofReps and @RISenate to record ALL their committee meetings. What this means is that the public now has access to every minute of every meeting. This is new. A thread from @UpriseRI
In years past, some committees recorded their meetings on video, some on audio, and some not at all. I remember the shocked, uncomfortable looks I got bringing my camera into some of those meeting rooms. I actually saw lobbyists not testify, rather than do so on video. @UpriseRI
All this video is available, but accessing this it on the General Assembly website can be difficult. If you're looking for the testimony or discussion on a certain bill, it can be hard to fast forward and find the exact bill you're looking for. @UpriseRI

But suppose the video was broken down by meeting, hearing, and even sometimes bill? Suppose there was a link to each bill's description, and an easy to watch YouTube video of the discussion embedded? @UpriseRI
That's what @UpriseRI did. In the following series of tweets, there's a date (or range of dates) and a link that includes all the video of all the hearings and meetings from the Rhode Island State House.
The @RIHouseofReps has begun to make the written testimony available online as well. Most of the committee clerks are keeping up, but some are not. The @RISenate hasn't made this feature available yet. @UpriseRI
When the written testimony has been made available, it's included with the description of the bill and the video of the bill's discussion. @UpriseRI

So here's all the video from the Rhode Island State House so far this year, broken down into a more user friendly fashion:
And this is for the week coming up, to be filled in as the video becomes available:
