The only reason the couple who pulled over when they saw me being assaulted on the side of the road stopped, was because they asked themselves 'what if it were our daughter'.
I will be forever grateful to them for stopping. But they didn't stop because they saw someone being assaulted on the side of the road - a woman, with a man on top of her, trying to rip off her clothes.
They stopped because they saw their daughter in my place. What does that say about us as a society? And then, to have the leader of the country repeat that thought process and announce it as if it were an epiphany?
