Biden's own advisors are saying the White House isn't responding to the pandemic the way it should. And that they aren't telling the American people what 2021 is really going to look like.

These are the scientists he said he would listen to.
Biden himself said he would listen to scientists. But then a few months later totally reversed position. https://twitter.com/MollyNagle3/status/1296943019002941441
Meanwhile Biden's own Senior Advisor for COVID Response has said that even with vaccines, we must use an "elimination" strategy to stop the pandemic. https://twitter.com/ASlavitt/status/1287526002558730240
Osterholm, who served on Biden’s transition team, has said:

“The Biden administration is going to have to address this issue and we’ve got to stop basically telling people we’ve turned the corner. At the rate we’re at right now, this is going to be a huge challenge.”
Osterholm also recently warned about the rise of variants:

“If we see that happen, which my 45 years in the trenches tell us we will, we are going to see something like we have not seen yet in this country.

That hurricane is coming.”
A health expert close to the White House said Biden is “painting way too rosy of a picture.”

CNN: "The source, who requested anonymity... added that the administration isn’t doing enough to sound the alarm about the threat of variants and the challenges that could lie ahead.”
As we approach 500,000 deaths in the US and thousands more die every day from the pandemic, we're left asking: OK, but how are you going to do it?

All the experts agree: vaccines are not enough. https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/status/1319448963443982337
CNN: Even one senior White House official acknowledged in an interview with CNN that the public may not yet understand that the variants will require "more public involvement and sacrifice than people probably have registered in their own mind."
CNN: "Should officials 'get up every morning and hold a press conference and say, 'I'm absolutely terrified'?' said one senior administration official"

Um... Well, how about a pandemic strategy commensurate with the reasons you are terrified tho...
CNN:

"Health experts said the trends were likely improving for reasons unrelated to Biden's policy initiatives.

Cases are leveling off after holiday-related spikes and it's too soon to see fallout from new potential super spreader events, such as Super Bowl parties."
CNN:

"Case numbers have been so high in these last two months that if you take just the first 10 days of February, the US has had more new cases than it had for the entire month of March, or April, or May, or even June of 2020."
"Now is not the time to look at those curves, in my view, and breathe a sigh of relief. We have a ways to go.

We know that this thing has been unpredictable for the last year. I think it's still going to be unpredictable."

@aslavitt46, White House Senior COVID Advisor
"The Biden administration is going to have to address this issue and we've got to stop basically telling people we've turned the corner.

At the rate we're at right now, this is going to be a huge challenge."

@mtosterholm, CIDRAP & Biden transition advisor
CNN:

"An administration official insisted Biden has been forthright with Americans, pointing to the President's previous comments, including a line in his inaugural address in which he said, 'We are entering what may well be the toughest and deadliest period of the virus.'"
"I worry that people have a false sense of reassurance because things are trending down and then all of the sudden you see people loosening restrictions in certain areas and people relax a little more"

— Dr. Amanda Castel, Prof. of Epidemiology
Andy warned us. And now we are approaching 500,000 deaths.

He was right then and still is. Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, and other countries are proof.

We can still prevent hundreds of thousands more deaths if we change our strategy NOW.

COVID-19 is a real deadly threat.
The pandemic is a real and deadly threat.
Vaccines work and everyone should get vaccinated.

AND just like every other 'natural disaster' the pandemic is only a disaster because of a failed government response.

#ZeroCOVID is a better strategy.
If you really want to understand the different pandemic strategies that countries are using, and why they work or don't work, I highly recommend reading this article written by experts in New Zealand. It's a good basic scholarly introduction to the issue. https://twitter.com/OmanReagan/status/1360335977097535489
In November 2020 @DrMFlowers wrote this incredibly prescient analysis of what the Biden pandemic plan might look like. I just learned about it today, definitely worth reading as well. https://twitter.com/OmanReagan/status/1361503723319529479
NEW: Members of Biden's COVID-19 transition team in the New York Times Today.

"If we don’t take the new virus variants more seriously than we have, tens of thousands more Americans will become sick and die." #ZeroCOVID

From members of Biden's own transition team today:

"We know indoor dining, bars and gyms are perfect for spreading the virus.

KEEPING THEM CLOSED IS ESSENTIAL."
