A FYI to physicians: I've known for approx 2.5 years that BCBS in some states is not reimbursing for work performed by NPs practicing outside their SOP. So EM docs, be aware that in some EDs, unless the NP is a an emergency nurse practitioner(ENP) or Acute Care Nurse
2)Practitioner(ACNP), they will not reimburse for procedures or patient evaluations on CC patients. Most NPs in ERs are FNPs. I've seen cases where FNPs in cardiology, psychiatry, etc. are refused reimbursement by BCBS. I am not a fan of insurance companies, but this they got
3)right. This is what every medical facility/clinic/UC/private practice, etc. should be doing. Making sure NPs are within their SOPs. For safety as well as financial reasons. Patients should not end up with the bill because a NP was working in a job which was outside his/her
4)focus area. This is not all states, just a few, so far.
