This was in a Kaizer Chiefs vs Mamelodi Sundowns match at FNB Stadium in the 2013/14 season where Sundowns won by a single goal, a wonder from the centre line by Teko Tsholofelo Modise himself.
This was a few games before he lifted his 1st trophy and removed 'the curse of Teko' off his back. Ironically Mamelodi Sundowns went on to record 10 wins in a row to win the league. This was the 1st trophy for Sundowns in about five years. Pitso needed Teko, Teko needed Pitso
Matchday 29 - One could visibly see the excitement on Modise's face when he scored a marvelous goal against Supersport United at the packed Loftus Versveld stadium when The Brazilians won 3-0 to clinche their 6th PSL League title.
The super assembled team had the likes of Elias Pelembe, Lebogang Mokoena, Bongani Zungu, Anthony Laffor, Katlego Mphela (before his move to Naturena) , Surprise Moriri and the young Khama Billiat.
Interestingly, Themba Zwane was not yet at his peak and the young lion Percy Tau was about to be loaned out. Bra Hlompho Kekana was not yet the captain and there was no Africa's number one, Dennis Onyango.
Bafana Ba Style were led by the Dutch, Alje Schut. This was the first chapter in Sir Pitso's successful quest.
Not many deserves the jersey number 10, but The General wore it with such aplomb and made history.

It was the great Jomo Sono who presented him with the jersey that elluded him at Orlando Pirates, where he arguably played his best football. When he arrived at Downs, Teko showed football maturity and was ready to turn things around for his career.
Donadoni won personal accolades at Orlando Pirates but achieved more (with the team) at Sundowns, including clinching the 2016 Caf Champions league.
Perhaps the pressure that came with hosting the 2010 Fifa World Cup was too much and a lot was expected of Modise.

A few demons to deal with post that era, and he eventually got it right. In his book, he mentions the pre-season tournament in Zambia where Sundowns lost all games. There was one game in particular (that was not even fixtured)
whereby sir Pitso didn't choose the starting 11 but told the players to volunteer to play. The General was the first to do so and then all other players around him, mostly the experienced guys stood up, they played the game and won convincingly.
The team took their performance through to the upcoming season and went on to win the league. There were talks of an overhaul in the club after the 'player power' that resulted in Johan Neeskens losing his job as the head coach of Sundowns and the team was almost relegated.
Modise warned the guys, 'this is Pitso we are talking who is in charge now, he doesn't take nonsense' get ready to work...
And the rest is history. Sundowns went on to accumulate a record 65 points, 20 wins in 30 games. Teko had one of his best seasons and played with purpose. He was so focused on his game and knew what he had to do.
Mind you this was after Orlando Pirates won the double treble and the media kept on emphasising there fact that Modise left The Bucaneers and they started winning games. I've could imagine the pressure that was on the Soweto born maestro.
Winning the league in 2013/14 marked a new era for Teko Modise and his coach Pitso Mosimane became the first black coach to win the PSL championship.
We salute you Mr Google Earth, the Navigator... Your name will always be on our lips, the General Teko Modise.
