On my run today I was thinking how different my life would have been if I’d been taught to invest in my body to make myself more powerful — instead of to control and constrain it to please other people.

Girls shouldn’t have to wait til their 30s to learn that.
Girls learn early on that being beautiful is a way to be powerful. But it's not the only way.
If girls learn their worth lies in how they look, that's what they invest in, at the expense of longer-lasting forms of power. Then they grow up—and are blindsided. So often, the world stops looking back.

This is why we are frustrated.
