On this day in 2003, and as one of the organisers I'd say 100,000 minimum. (We had to start early as Glasgow Green was getting overcrowded, and you know what a big space that is)
How many people on here remember being there?
Tony Blair happened to be speaking in Glasgow they day, he was helicoptered out of the SECC just before we got there.
The downside was that for many people our huge demo, and the million in London, made no difference at all. Iraq was invaded and hundreds of thousands died.
Many people took the lesson as demonstrations don't work, which has blighted the left ever since.
It's only in the last few years that made demonstrations in Scotland have become a thing again, mostly with a new generation not scarred by that experience.
One funny moment, we had organised a "feeder march" from the West End.
George Galloway showed up, with his bus, and dead on 11 he, and a pipe band tried to lead the march off, apparently because the police had told him to.

As they left, I got on a megaphone and announced we were still waiting for people (lefties tend not to show up on time) so we would now be leaving at 11.30, so people could grab a tea/coffee or whatever
The people there knew we were the organisers, they had seen us, so they did.
George and his merry band got about half way down university avenue, before realising there was no-one behind him.
They had to reverse their bus back in ignominy
We didn't see Mr Galloway at a Glasgow anti-war event ever again.
To be fair, Mr Galloway and I do have a bit of history.
