In the early 1950s Republicans were led down the conspiratorial rabbit hole by Sen. Joe McCarthy. He's the source of the phrase "McCarthyism," which represents one of the very darkest times in American history.

We now live in a time where a Republican President has led the GOP down the conspiratorial rabbit hole. History repeating itself.

The end of McCarthyism came in 1954, in hearings McCarthy used to claim the Army was filled with Commies. The Army lawyer, Joseph Welch, asked:

2/
“Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness." When McCarthy tried to continue his attack, Welch angrily interrupted, "Let us not assassinate this lad further, senator. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?"

3/
Much of the money driving the McCarthy conspiratorial furor then came from Fred Koch; now it comes from his sons, Charles Koch & (now deceased) brother David

And like then, the GOP stands idly by as a false "conspiracy" consume their entire, still cruel & reckless, party.

So I'm left wondering when will the fever break this time? When will Republicans finally stand up to the demagogue-peddling bizarre conspiracies that are engulfing the GQP?

Who will be the man or woman that asks the question:

"Have you no sense of decency?"
